Responsible Gaming
The warning signs, the tools that actually work, and the free confidential help that exists — including a helpline open right now.
The one rule worth keeping
Gambling is entertainment you pay for. The money you put in is the price of the entertainment, not an investment with an expected return — and on Sweet Rush Bonanza, as on every slot, the maths guarantees the house keeps a share over time.
Decide what the evening is worth before you start, and treat that figure as spent. Everything else on this page is a tool for holding yourself to it.
Warning signs
None of these is proof of a problem on its own. Several together, or one that keeps recurring, is worth taking seriously:
- Betting more than you decided to, and doing it repeatedly.
- Playing to win back losses rather than for the game itself.
- Borrowing, selling things, or using money meant for bills.
- Hiding how much or how often you play from people close to you.
- Feeling irritable or restless when you cannot play.
- Gambling to escape stress, boredom, loneliness or low mood.
- Missing work, sleep or commitments because of time spent playing.
- Thinking about the next session during the rest of the day.
BeGambleAware publishes a short self-assessment that scores these more precisely. It takes a couple of minutes and nothing is recorded against you.
Three beliefs that cost people money
"It is due for a win"
Every spin is independent. Two hundred blanks do not make the next spin more likely to pay — the random number generator has no memory of what came before, and no knowledge of how long you have been playing.
"I can win it back"
Chasing losses raises the stake without changing the odds, which shortens the session rather than rescuing it, and it does so fastest on games where the value is concentrated in a rare bonus round.
"I have a system"
No betting pattern changes a fixed RTP. Not doubling after a loss, not stopping and restarting, not switching stake size, not pressing the button differently. Bankroll management changes how long you play and how it feels. It does not change what you win.
Tools every UK casino must give you
These are UK Gambling Commission requirements, not operator favours. All of them live in account settings:
- Deposit limits — daily, weekly or monthly. Lowering one applies immediately; raising it carries a mandatory cooling-off period.
- Loss limits — a cap on net losses within a period.
- Session limits — log you out automatically after a set time.
- Reality checks — a pop-up at your chosen interval showing elapsed time and net position. Set it to fifteen minutes.
- Time-out — a break of 24 hours to six weeks. Cannot be cancelled early.
- Self-exclusion — six months minimum at that operator. Cannot be cancelled early, and marketing stops with it.
The asymmetry is the point: the tools that cannot be undone in the moment are the ones that work, because the moment you most want to undo them is exactly when you should not be able to.
GamStop
GamStop is a free national scheme. One registration blocks you from every operator licensed in Great Britain — not just the one you are annoyed with — for six months, one year or five years.
It applies across websites and apps alike, and it cannot be lifted before the term expires. Sites that advertise themselves as "not on GamStop" are by definition not licensed in Great Britain, which means no UK protections, no ADR route and no Gambling Commission oversight if something goes wrong. Avoid them.
Where to get help
All free, all confidential, none of them require you to have hit a crisis first:
- National Gambling Helpline — 0808 8020 133. 24 hours a day, run by GamCare. Free from landlines and mobiles.
- GamCare. One-to-one counselling, moderated forums, group sessions, and live chat.
- BeGambleAware. Self-assessment, information and a directory of treatment services.
- Gordon Moody. Residential and intensive treatment for severe gambling addiction.
- Gamblers Anonymous. Peer support meetings across the UK, in person and online.
- GamFam and Gam-Anon. Support for family members and people affected by someone else's gambling.
Blocking software and bank controls
- Gamban and BetBlocker block gambling sites and apps across your devices. BetBlocker is free.
- Bank gambling blocks. Most UK banks now let you switch off gambling transactions in the app, often with a delay before it can be switched back on.
- Device-level controls. Screen Time on iOS and Digital Wellbeing on Android can restrict categories and set time limits.
Under-18s
Gambling is illegal for anyone under 18 in the UK. Operators verify age at registration and again before a withdrawal. If children use your devices, protect accounts with a password or biometric lock, do not save gambling credentials in a shared browser profile, and use parental controls to block the category outright.
